C. Vernon Ziegler Sr., 74, of 1516 Valley Drive, died Wednesday at Community-General Hospital.
He was born in Bainbridge, N.Y., and lived in Syracuse most of his life. Mr. Ziegler was a general contractor, operating Ziegler Contracting in Syracuse for 36 years.
He was formerly active in the Church of the Nazarene, and was a member of the Christian Businessman's Association.
Mr. Ziegler is survived by his wife, the former Lillian R. Wood of Syracuse; one son, C. Vernon Ziegler Jr. of Winslow, Maine; two daughters, Beverly Hausaman of Cathedral City, Colo., and Mary Campbell of Nashua, N.H.; two brothers, Morris Ziegler of Syracuse and Bruce Ziegler of California; three sisters, Winifred McGrath, Vivian Bills of Palm Desert, Calif., and Faye Hicks of Upland, Calif.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Baptist Church, Amboy, the Rev. Stephen M. Tecco officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Today at Greenleaf Funeral Home, 503 W. Onondaga St., and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
