Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph, for Hubert S. "Hub" Klein, age 86, of St. Joseph, who passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring. Reverend Jerome Tupa, OSB will officiate. Entombment with Military Honors will take place in the parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m. on Thursday and after 9:30 a.m. on Friday all at the St. Joseph's Parish Center in St. Joseph. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph.
Hub was born on August 2, 1927 in Collegeville to George and Theresia (Meyer) Klein. He served honorably in the U.S. Army in Korea. Hub married Claudette Pfannenstein on June 14, 1949 in St. Joseph. He lived in St. Joseph all of his life. He was employed by Gohman Construction for many years, retiring in 1991. Hub was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, St. Joseph Legion #328, and the Knights of Columbus Council #7057.
Hub was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed baseball, golf, gardening, bowling and his association with the College of St. Benedict and the St. John's University.
He is survived by his children, Tom (Alice) Klein of St. Joseph, Terry Klein of Salt Lake City, Utah, Barb Klein of Dubuque, Iowa, Bob (Mary) Klein of St. Cloud, Patty (Ken) Meyer of Bloomington, Julie (Darren) Brinson of Walla Walla, Washington, Brenda (Dave)Harley of Apple Valley, 23 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, David Klein of St. Cloud, Tillie (Roger) Sauerer of Inner Grove Heights, and Gerry (Mollie) Klein of Maplewood; and brother-in-law, Henry Rand of Kerkhoven.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Claudette in 2011; daughter-in-law, Jan Watts; and brothers and sisters, Sr. Elizabeth, OSF, Clara Therrien, Roman, Leander, Wilfred, Werner, Magdalen Schmitt, Gisela Crow, and Viola Rand.
