Four Children Burn To Death
Three-Room Cottage Fire Tragedy In Wellston, OH
Four children of Frank and Maxine Brown burned to death 25 Feb 1955 in a cottage their father built. The parents and three other children survived the blaze. The parents were listed in serious condition in Holzer Hospital in Gallipollis, Ohio.
Five-year-old Delmos was listed as a heroic victim. After fleeing the house with his parents, he rushed back in to try and save his siblings who were still inside. He never came back out.
The three other victims were listed as 2 1/2-year-old Edward, 6 month old Joseph Ray, and 4 year old Sharon Kay. Two other children 3-year-old Gary Lee and 6-year-old Bobby suffered slight burns. A third child, 8 year old Connie Lou escaped with no injuries.
