Funeral service for Sarah Varner, 79, will be at Full Gospel Tabernacle of Talladega Springs; Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 11:00am, with the Rev. Joe Kelley officiating. Burial will be at Talladega Springs Cemetery. She passed away June 3, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Varner is a native of Sylacauga. She loved children and worked with foster children for many years, was active in her church, and was an avid vegetable gardener and canner. She is survived by her husband, Gordon Varner of Fayetteville; daughter, Sybil Varner Roark (Danny) of Athens; grandchildren, David Tomlinson (Dana) of Sylacauga, Laura Tomlinson Confer (Amos) of Clinton, NY, Josh Tomlinson (Leah) of Harvest; step granddaughter, Danielle Roark Koelbl (John); 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Diane Griffin of Sylacauga, Cathy Osburn of Sylacauga, Carolyn Scott (Ronald) of Little Rock, MS; sister in law, Carolyn Jones of Childersburg; foster son, J.D. Barkley (Barbara) of West Blocton; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, loving friends, and a wonderful church family of Talladega Springs Full Gospel Tabernacle. Visitation will be at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel; Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 5:00-8:00pm.
