Elder Ardell Sanders Apr. 14, 1914 - May 1, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Elder Ardell Sanders, 100, of South Bend, Indiana entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 1, 2014 in Morning Crest Nursing Home. He was born March 14, 1914 in Union City, Tennessee to the union of Betty Lou (Lane) Sanders and Richard Sanders. Elder Sanders worked and retired from construction. During that time of employment, he helped to build the Golden Dome at the University of Notre Dame and the Chapel Church. He was also a bus driver and church custodian. Elder Sanders was Pastor of New Bethel Tabernacle for 37 years. His time in the ministry totaled 44 years. Elder Sanders leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Vernetta "Patmoe" Sanders; daughters: Dorothy Morris of Anderson, Indiana, Murdell (Richard) Winston of Bradenton, Florida, Lorraine Wright of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters: Margeree Young and Clara (Jessie) Adams of Benton Harbor, Michigan; grandchildren: Terrie Dixon, Phillip Dixon, Victor Berry, Gaddis Berry, Wayne "Butchie" Berry, Terrance Johnson, Barbara (Jerry) Simmons, DeJuan Simmons, Jerrit "Bustar" Simmons, Nakita Simmons, Papoose Simmons, Shaun Simmons, Genine Urmyiah, David West, Shena (Walter) Gordon, Rachel Smith, Zion Smith, Jonathan Smith, Aaron Smith, Monique Smith; Charles E. (Sarah) Sanders Jr., Elizabeth (Kevin) Woodgett, Julie (Cornelius) Ross, Jason Walker, Jeffery (Tamara) Walker, Scottie Walker, Mary Walker, Floyd E. Carter, Damon (Wanika) Walker, Tony Walker, L'Oreal Wright, Sarah Wright, Joshua Wright, and Lacey Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Betty Lou Sanders; children: Charles Sanders and Alma Jean Walker; grandchildren: Leroy Morris, Terry Walker Jr. and Kevin Lamonte Walker; brothers: Finas, Jonnie, Kenneth, Rufus, Laverna, Richard Jr.; and sisters: Dorothy and Ora Lee Jordan. Services for Elder Ardell Sanders will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 in New Bethel Tabernacle, 2627 Napier Street, South Bend. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and funeral service at 12:00 noon.
