Dr. Keith F. "Dr. B" Broughton, 77, Blue Springs, Mo., passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Blue Springs.

Dr. Broughton was born October 10, 1928, to Frank and Ethel (Hughes) Broughton in Harwood, Mo. He practiced medicine for 32 years in Blue Springs, and spent eight years as a certified medical director at several nursing homes, as well as providing medical care for many patients in the facilities. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He had served as chief of staff at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs and the Medical Center of Independence. He had been on the Board of Trustees at William Jewell College and Commerce Bank of Independence. He also had been on many committees at the hospitals during his 40 years of practicing medicine.

"Dr. B", as many referred to him, was a wonderful, loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as a caring physician. It is impossible to express how much he will be missed, but we know that he can now walk again and he is home now. To God be the glory.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

His survivors include his wife, Betty Broughton of the home; a son, Stephen Broughton and wife, Marcy, of Grain Valley, Mo.; a brother, Kenneth Broughton, and two sisters, Fern McMullen and Gladean Higgins, all of El Dorado Springs, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Ferne Albert, and mother-in-law, Nancy Albert, both of Grain Valley; grandchildren, Jared and Whitney Broughton of Grain Valley; two nieces; and two nephews.

Funeral services will be noon Saturday, Jan. 14, at the First Baptist Church of Blue Springs. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City.
