Deomeria (Dee) Giusti Ackerman

GALVESTON — Dee Ackerman, of Galveston, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2005, at her residence. She was born on July 23rd, a lifelong resident of Galveston.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Veronica Liberto and father, Angelo Giusti; sisters, Catherine Daniels and Amelia Giusti; her devoted husband, Joe F. Ackerman; and her beloved daughter, Debbie Ackerman, who died November 15, 1971. She loved to help people and was always there for her friends.

Survivors include her two sons, Wayne Max Ackerman and his wife, Terri, of San Diego, California, and Glenn J. Ackerman and his wife, Denise, of Galveston; three grandchildren, Eric Ackerman, Daniel Ackerman and wife, Ariel, and Regina Ackerman; three great grandchildren, Maggie Ackerman, Daniel Ackerman, Jr., and Patience Korell; special devoted friends, Terri Hayden of Arlington, Texas, and Ann and Dennis Allen of Galveston; and many nieces and cousins.

Dee belonged to AARP 1294, Life Enrichment Club, Fifty Fun Club, Grandmothers Club #277, Schyler Colfax Rebekah Lodge #53, St. Mary’s Auxiliary, the Senior Chamber of Commerce, the Shriner‚s Children’s Burns Hospital, and Edgewater Auxiliary. She served as president of many of these organizations.

The family received visitors after 5 p.m., Monday, July 11, 2005, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary was held at 6 p.m., led by Father William Bartniski.

Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Father William Bartniski as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lewis McBride, Glenn Ackerman, Daniel Ackerman, Wayne Ackerman, Dennis Allen, and Eric Ackerman.
