Lula Mae McMath, 82, of Clinton, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 1988. She was born in the Wheeler township in Van Buren County, Arkansas on April 12, 1906, the first of 14 documented children born to parents James Alvis Pack and Emma Louella Davis Pack (see links below). The large number of siblings is due in part to the fact that her mother Emma gave birth to two sets of twins and one set of triplets (however, none of the triplets survived over 9 days). At the time of Lula's death, she was survived by four of her brothers and five of her sisters.

Lula married three times in her life. Her first husband was William George "Billy" Swopes, whom she wed on February 16, 1925 in Pope County, Arkansas. After his death in an auto accident in 1936, Lula later married Harry Blakely, who passed away about 1960 in California. Her third marriage was to Roy Roscoe McMath (see link below), who passed in 1982 at age 85, leaving her a widow once again.

Lula's only documented biological child was son J.W. Swopes from her first marriage, who was born and died on December 6, 1926. He is also buried at Zion Hill Cemetery (on Row 3).

Funeral services for Lula were held at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church with her interment following at Zion Hill Cemetery by North Arkansas Funeral Service of Clinton. Lula was laid to rest next to her third husband, Roy Roscoe McMath.
