Robert graduated from Danville High School in 1954. He grew up with his nine brothers and sisters learning to farm, a love he cultivated all his life. He received the Keystone Farmer Degree at the 25th state convention of the Future Farmers of America.
Robert served in the Army National Guard with Troop B, 1st Reconnaissance Squadron, 104th Armored Cavalry. He attained the rank of staff sergeant E-6 and was honorably discharged.
He formerly was employed by Weis Markets as a truck driver and then as a carpenter for the John Miles Construction Co. and the Ankis Construction Co.
Robert was a member of Calvary Tabernacle Church on Island Park. He was a member of the Carpenters Union since 1979 and a life member of American Legion Post 44, Northumberland. Robert was an avid fisherman, hunter and carpenter but above all, he enjoyed the time he spent with his family.
