George Henry was the son of Alfred B. and Jane Elizabeth (McIntyre) Armstrong. George was the 6th child and his siblings were Edwin P. born 1849, William Martin born 1850, Edgar M. born 1853, Nancy Jane born 1857, Charles A. born 1862. Emma Belle born 1877 was adopted into the family.

December 28, 1892 George Henry married his first cousin, Florence Alice Polmateer, daughter of Issac and Martha Malinda (Polmateer) Armstrong.

They had 3 children -

George F. born 1896 who married Maxine F. Jones
Richard Henry born 1902 and died that same year.
Laura Jannette born 1904 and died in 1906.

In 1910 they owned their own home in Wellsville and Florence was cleaning houses and George was doing odd jobs. At one time he worked as a surveyor's helper.

Florence died in 1919 leaving George a widower for 20 years. He lived with son, George and family, during his later years.
