Lila E. Jean March 12, 1929 - May 10, 2014 ELKHART - Lila Elizabeth Jean, 85, of Elkhart, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior at 5:10 pm. Saturday, May 10, 2014, in Hubbard Hill Estates. Lila was born March 12, 1929, in Lawrence, MA, the daughter of Chester E. and Ethel E. Batchelder. On August 15, 1947, in Methuen, MA, she married Arthur J. Jean. He passed away on December 12, 1991. She is survived by five children: Thomas (June) Jean of Anchorage, AK, Susan (Jerry) Rowe of Elkhart, Terri (Steve) Hupp of Elkhart, Kathy Waugh of South Bend and Cindy (Marc) Miller of Bristol; eight grandchildren, Amy Williams, Justin Bloxson, Michelle Grebe, Stephanie Waugh, Daniel Waugh, Monica Boren, Travis Spangle and Kyle Spangle; and six great- grandchildren: Jordan, Nathaniel, Mackenzie, Jacob, Abner and Reid. She is also survived by one sister, Louise Remillard of Lawrence, MA. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Robert Jean, and brother, Chester Batchelder Jr. Mrs. Jean worked for Baugo Community Schools for 33 years, retiring in May of 2003. She was a charter member of Meadowood Free Methodist Church of Elkhart, and member of the Red Hat Society, YMCA Seniors and Baugo Retired Staff. Lila enjoyed traveling, scrapbooking, making handmade greeting cards and needlework. Friends and family may call from 5:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, May 15, 2014, in the funeral home, with Rev. Steve Newkirk officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Meadowood Free Methodist Church, 56538 Meadowood Drive, Elkhart, IN 46516; or ADEC at www.adecinc.com.
