GREENWOOD, MS - Esther Smith Chapin, age 75, died Wednesday February 19, 2014 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford from heart failure.
She was born in Monroe, LA February 26, 1939 to the Late: Jody and Jewel Smith and resided in Greenwood most of her life. She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Greenwood. She worked as a private sitter, and at Gibson's Department Store, Golden Age Nursing Home and retired from Baldwin Piano. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hugh B. Chapin Jr.
Visitation will be 12:00 to 2:00 PM Wednesday 02/26/2014 at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood. Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Williams & Lord Funeral Home with Brother Kerry Owen and Brother Damon Tipton officiating. Burial will be in McNutt Cemetery.
She is survived by 2 Daughters, Brenda Ann Bruce of Greenwood and Mary Ann Bell of Houston, TX, 2 Sons, Jimmy A. Lee of Grenada and Hugh Chapin of Greenwood, 3 Brothers, Roy Smith of Monroe, LA, Wayne Smith of Crump, TN, and Joe Smith of Monroe, LA, 2 Sisters, Sandy Crawford of Rayville, LA and Clara Mae Watson of Montana, 6 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
