Malin (born Anna Amelia), the 6th of 8 children, came to America on her own at the age of 14, in 1887. She came directly to Chicago, where many of her older siblings had already settled. She married Gustaf Emil (also a Swedish immigrant) in 1891. She became a US Citizen by virtue of his naturalization in 1888. She was the mother to 8 children, all born in the United States. Her husband began his career in Chicago as a wood pattern maker, and formed his own company, South Side Pattern and Model Shop, near the Stockyards in 1911. She and Emil became homeowners in 1915, near Ogden Park, at 6641 S Hermitage Ave, where she lived the rest of her life. Her grand and great grandchildren affectionately called her "Mormor Mollie"
