Mrs. L.E. Stacey died at Waxhaw, Union county, N.C., at 11-30 o'clockSunday
night June 7th, 1903. She was a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. W.J. Atkinson ofDavie
county, N.C. She was married June 5, 1895, and there were three children born
to them. The olddest, Nansie, is a bright child now with her father;s family;
the second, Margaret, died of whooping cough at Mr. Atkinson's last July; the
third, William Atkinson, only 6 days old at his mother's death in now in the
care of Mrs. H.L. Austin, his aunt, at Mocksville, N.C.
Mrs. Stacey was thirty-three years old at her death. She joined the M.E.Church
South at the tender age of 11 or 12 years and lived a consistent memberof that
church until her death.
The writer of this has seen many die, but this was the most triumphantpassage
to eternity I ever witnesses.
Mrs. Stacey's remains were taken to the cemetary at Smith Grove for interment,
and were accompanied from Waxhaw by her husband, Rev. L.E. Stacey, hisoldest
son, Marcis, and second daughter, Miss Isabelle, and Mr. and Mrs. Austin,of
Mocksville, who were called to her bedside on last Sunday.
