Mrs. Alabaster Dies; Widow Of Former Dean

Mrs. Blanche Alabaster, 72, widow of a former dean of Nebraska Wesleyan university, died Sunday noon at a local hospital. 

She was a resident of University Place for many years, but had been living recently with her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Weatherhogg.

Her husband, Francis A. Alabaster, was considered one of the outstanding educators in Nebraska during the past 50 years.  He died June 22, 1946.  At that time he bore the title of dean emeritus of Nebraska Wesleyan.

Mrs. Alabaster, born in West Mansfield, O., came to the state while a small girl with her parents.  After her graduation from Omaha Central high school, she entered Nebraska Wesleyan in 1892.  upon graduating in 1895, she married Prof. Alabaster.

She was a member of the First Methodist church, Chapter V, of P.E.O., Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, and the Happy Hour club.

Besides the daughter, surviving are two sons, Wendell of Seattle, Wash., and Francis T., of Highland Park, N.J.; a sister, Mrs. Chester Scott of Carneys Point, N.J.; a brother, Homer Robinson of Omaha; and four grandchildren.
