Born in Woodstock, Aug. 25, 1920, he was the son of the late William and Hazel (Thomas) Belcher. On Oct. 19, 1945, in San Francisco, he married Dorothy Berg.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy. From 1945 to 1980, he was a partner in Belcher & Son Flooring in Woodstock and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Woodstock.
Edwin the husband of Dorothy, was the father of two daughters, Kristine (Tom) Smartt of Riverton, Wyo. and Phyllis (Jack) Kepler of Tavernier, Fla. and a son, Douglas (Cynthia) Belcher of St. Louis, Mo. He had six grandchildren and a brother, Melvin of Woodstock.
In 1985, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca (Torgny) Hallin, Rockford.
The Rev. Gordon R. Shafer will officiate at the 2 p.m. funeral Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to his church, the First United Methodist Church.
Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery.
