Mary Louise Bowen Lindley Simmons, 92, of Carthage passed away at 10:40 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2014 at her home. Mary was born April 12, 1922 in Carthage. She was the daughter of Ernest R. Bowen and Corda "Harrill" Bowen.

Mary was a lifetime resident of Carthage and a homemaker. She graduated with the class of 1939 from Carthage High School. Mary was a lifelong member of Carthage First Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Mary was united in marriage to Nelson Lindley on October 27, 1945. He preceded her in death on October 23, 1998. Mary then married Robert Simmons on December 20, 2003 in Carthage, he survives.

Other survivors include one son; Richard Lindley and his wife Muriel of Carthage, two daughters; Carol Sheperd of Carl Junction and Patricia Jones of Tulsa, Oklahoma, five step-sons and one step-daughter; one brother, William R. Bowen of Fort Scott, Kansas and one sister, Virginia Ball of Carthage, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by two sisters; Martha Ann Oldham and Nancy Sparks.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Carthage. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
