EMMA BARDSLEY

Missouri Valley - Mrs. Emma Bardsley, 76, died at a Missouri Valley hospital Monday after an extended illness.

Born in Lake Township of Pottawattamie County, she resided most of her life in Harrison County.

Survivors include four sons, Frank of Seaside, Calif., Harvey E. of Council Bluffs, Benjamin of Monroe, Neb., and Raymond of Pittsburg (Fitchburg) Mass.; three daughters, Mrs. John (Blanche) Aronson of Logan, Mrs. Max (Ruth) Woolard of St. Louis, Mo. and Mrs. Carl (Cecil) Low of Easton, Conn., brother, John Wright of Council Bluffs; sister, Mrs. Henrietta Neilson of Logan and 27 grandchildren.

Services will be a 2 p.m. Thursday at the Walker Funeral Home at Missouri Valley. Interment will be at the Missouri Valley Cemetery.

Services were from Hardy-Walker Funeral Home, Thursday - April 22, 1965. Clergyman was Howard L. Johnson. Casket Bearers: Orville Freeman, Russell Johnson, Richard Johnson, Merle Kepford, Lloyd Gamet, and Paul Bowles. Organ music was by Mrs. Harry W. Adams. Place of Internment, Grange Cemetery, Honey Creek, Iowa. Arrangements by Hardy-Walker Funeral

The funeral card is correct that Emma was buried in the Grange Cemetery and is buried beside her parents.

Emma divorced Walter in 1937. On October 4, 1937, "The Daily Times" (Missouri Valley Newspaper), has a notice that Emma Bardsley filed for divorce against Walter L. Bardsley. Emma was represented by William P. Welch.

Ruby Bardsley Purcell has fond memories, as do many of the other grandchildren, of Emma and has some doilies made by Emma, which Emma liked to crochet. Emma was very fond of African Violets and Canaries. Neil Bardsley remembers her room, at her daughter and son-in law's (John Aronson and Blanche Bardsley) home being full of African Violets and Canaries singing.
