Barbara J. "Barb" Abel, 75, died Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls.
She was born December 21, 1938, in Austin, MN, the daughter of Howard C. and Anna Maryette Mills Wilder. She married Robert Abel August 16, 1959, in Waterloo.
Barb graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1956 and received her LPN degree from Allen School of Nursing and was employed as a LPN at various nursing homes in the metro area.
Survived by her husband of Cedar Falls; daughter, Janice (John) Ackelson of Des Moines, IA; two brothers, James Wilder of Eureka Springs, AR and Thomas (Linda) Wilder of Olympia, WA; one sister, Marjorie (Dennis) Andreessen of West Des Moines; and three grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a nephew.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Woodbury Cemetery, Lyle, MN. There will be no visitation.
