Bob Sanders
Bob Sanders, 57, of Caldwell passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at a Caldwell hospital after a short illness. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell.
Bob was born on Sept. 29, 1949, in Nampa, to Betty and Alton Wayne Sanders. His mother later married Richard French when Bob was 1 year old. He was raised in Nyssa, Ore., where he went to school until his junior year and graduated from Notus High School in 1969. At Notus, he met his future wife, Collette Williams. They were married Jan. 20, 1972, in Notus. They have two children, Shane and Amy Sanders, and later were blessed with one granddaughter, Sacora Sanders.
Upon graduation, Bob moved to Winnemucca, Nev., and worked a short time for the Southern Pacific Railroad. While there, he also worked for his Uncle Royse Upshaw, who taught him the drywall trade. Bob returned to Idaho in 1971 and worked for Joe Hild Drywall until 1975 when he started his own business, Sanders Drywall. Bob worked with many area contractors and took great pride in his business. He was a perfectionist at his job. Many residential homes in the area were done by Sanders Drywall in his 30 year career.
Bob was a fun-loving person and had a big heart, always willing to help anyone. He had a great love for fishing and camping with his family and friends. He loved our traditional Memorial Weekend family camping trip to Sage Hen Reservoir where we would rent a whole campground for all the family. Some of his fondest memories were fishing with his Dad, brother and brothers-in-law, as well as sitting by the campfire telling stories.
His other passion was cars. One of his first purchases after graduation was a new 1970 Cuda which was the hottest car in town. In later years, he purchased a restored 1935 Chevy coupe as well as a 1955 Chevy which he had hoped to restore one day and a beautiful Bernardi kit car. Bob also loved to water ski and snowmobile and had a passion for treasure hunting and exploring old ghost towns.
Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Collette of Caldwell; son Shane Sanders of Nampa, daughter Amy (Carlos) Moreno of Tacoma, WA and his special granddaughter, his little sweetheart, Sacora. He is also survived by his parents, Richard and Betty French of Notus, sister Gail (Henry) Farrow of Fruitland, brother Rick French and grandmother Levetra Upshaw of Caldwell; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, sister and brothers-in-law.
He is preceded in death by his father, five grandparents, a niece and two brothers-in-law.
Memorials may be made with flowers or donation to his granddaughter's education fund under Sacora Sanders at any U.S. Bank. Bob, we love you so and will dearly miss you. You will remain forever in our hearts.
