Motor Mishaps Cause Deaths of 3 Altonians -

The son and eldest child of Mrs. John G. Freeman, John Howard Freeman had resided here since the family moved here 14 years ago. He was born August 22, 1918, at Salisbury, Missouri, and completed his education in the public schools here, attending Alton High School.
For the last 2 1/2 years he had been employed at Western Cartridge Co. as a machine adjuster in the metallic department.
Freeman was an experienced cyclist. He had suffered a broken leg in a motorcycle spill a year ago last April 1, his father said and also had been in cycling collision in December, 1938, escaping with little injury when a companion, Everett Poppins, riding the rear of the motorcycle, was injured severely, in a crash at Sering and Broadway.
Surviving Freeman besides his parents are two sisters, Misses Carrie and Norma Jean Freeman, and a brother, Ralph, 14, who suffered fracture of his arms in a fall at the new Milton bridge last Aug. 15. Freeman also leaves his paternal grandfather, James Freeman, 85 of Armstrong, Mo., who visited here early this summer.
Funeral rites for Freeman will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m., at Streeper funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home toview the body after 6 p.m., today.
