Loretta Hanson, age 92, formerly of Motley, died Wednesday, April 21st, in New Prague, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday morning at 11:00 in St. Michaels Catholic Church with Father Peter Kirchner officiating. Burial will follow in the Motley Cemetery. Relatives will receive friends on Monday evening from 5 to 8 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples. The Rosary will be said at 7:30 followed by Parish Prayers.

Loretta was born on February 17, 1912 to George A. and Justina (Schenk) Smith in Ward Township of Todd County.

She was united in marriage to Magnus Hanson in Philbrook on November 5, 1930. They raised their family in this area and when the children were grown she worked in the hospital cafeteria. She took night courses for bookkeeping and worked at the Motley creamery. Throughout the years she's served as the church organist for St. Michael's Catholic Church, established the Rosary Guild, participated with the Christian Mothers, and made over 27,000 rosaries.

Loretta is survived by her children Donna (Robert) Hull of Yakima, Wa, Darlene (Dale) Carlson of Carver, MN, Mildred (James) Gobely of St. Paul, Jeanne (Phil) Rooney, Burnsville, Janice (Donald) Scott of Prior Lake, MN, 15 grandchildren, 38 great-grand children, 4 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and several step-children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands; Magnus Hanson and Manford Hagen, 1 grandson; Greg, a great-grand daughter; Marilyn, 3 sisters and 5 brothers.

Services have been entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
