He was born May 15, 1924, in New York. He grew up in Larchmont, N.Y. and was a graduate of Fordham University. He was a first lieutenant in the Air Force, serving as a navigator with the 467th Heavy Bomb Group in Europe during World War II and also serving in Korea. He was employed by Reynolds Metals Co. in Richmond, Va. for 30 years, where he was vice president of marketing. During this time, he was responsible for several patents for food packaging. He was later employed by the Mill Print Co., a division of Phillip Morris in Milwaukee, Wis. and then joined Hargrove Co. in Chicago as vice president of their medical packaging division. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Audre Becker (nee Steffes), son, William Charles Becker and daughter, Stephanie Proebsting (nee Becker) of Barrington; three granddaughters, Kelly Sue Becker, Hailey Proebsting and Chloe Proebsting; two nieces, Pamela Mirabal and Alicia Blackwood of Largo, Fla.; and two cousins, Margaret Webster of Garden City, N.Y. and John McCahill of Long Island, N.Y. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Charles Becker Jr. and Mary Becker (nee Russell) of Larchmont.
Services will be held at a later date at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Barrington and interment will be private. Memorials to St. Jude Children's Hospital are requested.
