1. True Democrat dated Wed Jun 8, 1864, page 8, "Logan Guards were engaged in a severe battle at Cassville, Georgia, on the 15th of May, and met with the following casualties,viz: George Bolinger, shot thru the head and killed; Samuel Bowersox, shot through the body and killed;"
2. Gazette, Wed June 8, 1864, page 3, "George Bolinger and Samuel Bowersox, of the Logan Guards, were killed, and a son of Jones Jonas Kauffman, deceased, wounded in Georgia during the advance of Gen. Sherman into that State."
