Edgar T. Blackmer, 67, of 302 Garson Ave., Rochester, a native of Ogdensburg, died Friday morning at his home.
Mr. Blackmer lived in Northern New York for several years before moving to Rochester, where he was employed by Rochester Products Inc. for 25 years, retiring in 1994.
He was a corporal in the Army from 1948 to 1952, serving during the Korean War. He was wounded while in Korea and received a Purple Heart.
He was a member of the United Auto Workers union.
Born Feb. 8, 1931, at Ogdensburg, son of Edgar G. and Nora Hamilton Blackmer, he graduated from high school while in the service and had one year of nursing training. He married Karen Donahue on April 12, 1975, at Rochester.
Surviving besides wife are five sons, Edgar T. Jr., Gregory, Wayne, Thomas Edward and Adam Barry; two daughters, Debra Ann Blackmer, and Kathleen Brown; nine grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A brother, Hamilton, and two sisters, Marie and Jean, died before him.
