PALMYRA, MAINE - Edith (Weatherburn) Albin, 100, passed away May 20, 2014 at a Pittsfield, ME nursing facility. She was born July 22, 1913 in Worcester, MA, the daughter of Hardy and Elizabeth (Crompton) Weatherburn. She lived in Uxbridge and Millville, MA before moving to Palmyra, ME in 2003 with her daughter.
She worked at the Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville, MA during the war. She also worked as a waitress at Bernat Yarn Co. in Uxbridge, MA until her retirement. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, camping and fishing.
Edith leaves 2 daughters, Edith Smyth of Palmyra, ME and Jean Sweeney of Pascoag, RI; a son James Fior and his wife Sharon of Palmyra, ME; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Goozey; 4 brothers, Hardy, John, Gordon and Harry Weatherburn; and a grand-daughter Barbara (Sweeney) Lachance.
Visiting hours will be held on Sun. May 25, 2014 from 2-4 PM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 North Main St. Uxbridge followed by the funeral service at 4 PM in the funeral home.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date in St. John's Cemetery, Slatersville, RI.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
