DODSON - Lazure J. Ereaux, 77, rancher and longtime Dodson resident, died of natural causes on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at Benefis Peace Hospice in Great Falls.
His funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Dodson High School Gymnasium with burial following in the Ereaux Family Cemetery west of Dodson. A feed at the Dodson School will follow the burial.

Lazure was born on Nov. 17, 1929, in Salem, Ore., to Lazure Sr. And Alice (Hall) Ereaux.

Lazure was employed in various occupations, a teamster, farmer/rancher, and construction worker. He was also on various committees, Head Start, J. O.M., and Water Compact Committee and served as an election judge. Lazure married Mary Sarah Chandler and they had a daughter, Stella. They later divorced. In Lazure's younger years, he belonged to a boxing club. In his later years and up until his death, he could found at PJ's giving poker lessons and playing poker. Lazure was a true Coyote fan, following his grandson Michael and the teams to many basketball and cross country events. He also supported all the youth in the Dodson area and even after they graduated from high school he still supported them in their college careers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lazure "Speed" and Alice Ereaux.

Survivors include his daughters, Stella Ereaux of Dodson and Tina Short Morris of Chouteau; sons, John Short of Harlem and Lloyd Coon of Zortman; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; aunts, Cecilia Lankford of Dodson and Mary Kuntz of Harlem; and many nieces and nephews.
