Abner was the son of Abner Bailey and Hannah White.

Before 1843 he married Harriet D. Farr, daughter of Benjamin Farr and Mary Stevens.

Their children were Hannah, Eliza, Mary E, Hazen, Henry, Benjamin F, Abner, and Harriet.

Children Eliza, Abner & Harriet are buried here with them. Eliza's stone lists her death as Aug 24, 1845 (age is buried); Abner & Harriet share a stone that only says they are the son & daughter of Abner & Harriet D. (last name and dates/ages is buried).

His wife, Harriet, died on Feb 20, 1853 in NH or VT.

Before 1860 in VT or NH he married Mary Jane "Polly" Hutchins, daughter of Clifton Hutchins and Sarah "Sally" Rowell.

They had two children but the only one who survived was Harriet A. "Hattie". She was almost always listed as born in Aug or Sep 1866 in Lancaster, NH.

On Aug 16, 1862 in VT he enlisted to serve in the Civil War. On Sep 30, 1862 he was enlisted in the Vermont 3rd Infantry Regiment and served in Companies D and E. He was mustered out on Jun 19, 1865.

Age: 73yrs 1mo 25dys

Cause of Death: Heart Failure

NOTE:
His father, son of Ephraim Bayley & Hannah Fowler, married Hannah White in 1796 and they had children from at least 1802 through 1823. His mother died in Nov 1864 Topsham, VT. It is written that this Abner died in Topsham also but no death date can be verified yet.

His father was NOT the Abner Bayley/Bailey born 1778 in Newbury, VT - died May 9, 1852 in Topsham, VT.
THAT Abner, son of Jacob Bayley/Bailey and Ruth Bidell, married Betsey Hibbard in 1811 and they had a whole other huge batch of Bayleys.
