Jaime Alan Adcock, 17, of Butlerville, was killed in a Ripley County traffic accident on U.S. 50 between Holton & Versailles at 8:16 a.m. Monday morning.

Adcock died of massive internal injuries at the scene of the wreck in a dip about four miles from Versailles. The 1982 Ford pickup truck he was driving crossed the center lane for some unknown reason and collided head-on with a westbound dump truck.

Justin Copley, 7, son of William & Nancy Copley of Route 1, Butlerville, a passenger in the Adcock truck, was also hurt in the wreck. He suffered head & leg injuries and is in fair condition at Kosair Children's Hospital Louisville, Ky., as of Wednesday morning.

The driver of the dump truck was Matthew K. Kirkham of Route 4, North Vernon. The 1989 model tri-axle registered to Lee's Trucking of North Vernon was not loaded.

Trooper Thomas Baxter of the Versailles State Police Post investigated the accident. He was assisted by the Ripley County Sheriff's Department, The Holton Fire Department and the Rescue 69 Task Force Unit were also at the scene.

Funeral arrangements for Jaime Adcock were Wednesday (July 24, 1991) at 10:30 a.m. at the Pickett Funeral Home with burial at Hiberia Cemetery at New Washington. Tom Long officiated.

Born June 20, 1974, in Jeffersonville, son of Georgiana Adcock Vest, he would have been a Senior at Jennings County High School this fall. He was on the JCHS wrestling team, was a member of the Marching Club at the high school and attended the Butlerville Mennonite Church.

Surviving with his mother, are his stepfather, Kenith Vest of Butlerville; one sister, Wendy Vest at home; a stepsister, Anna Vest of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandmother Helen Adcock of Butlerville; step grandparents, Charles & Velma Vest of Rising Sun; step great-grandparents, John & Gertrude White of Aurora; and his uncle & aunt Byron & Melanie Adcock.
