William Edward Standridge, 83, of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Mena, died Wednesday, December 31, 2003, in Missouri. He was born October 26, 1920, in Opal, Arkansas. He was valedictorian of the Class of 1938 of Mena High School, taught agriculture at the University of Arkansas, graduated from the UA, served in the Army Air Force, was a rifle marksman and served as a radio operator and mechanic on bombers which he helped ferry to the European and Caribbean areas, was a member of First Baptist Church, the VFW and the American Legion.
Funeral was held at 2 p.m. at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Lower Big Fork Cemetery in Opal, Arkansas.
He is survived by two sisters, and a brother.
