Born July 29, 1931, in Nutter Fort, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ralph G. High and the late Willa Bessie Bond Westfall.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Enoch; her brother, Bob High (Marie) and her sisters, Martha Offutt, Barbara Smith (Franklin) and Nancy Mitchell (Bob). She is also survived by her nieces, Suzanne (Michael Zagarella) and Janice Offutt and her nephew, Paul Offutt (Eleanor). She is also survived by a number of loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her four husbands, Roy Davis, Jr. and Howard Enoch of Fairmont, WV; Richard Dufresne of Worcester, Massachusetts and George Benton of Bridgewater, Massachusetts; her brother, Edward High; her brother-in-law, Vere Offutt and her parents.
As evidenced by her four husbands, Donna “lived to love and loved to live.” Nicknamed “DonDune” by her father, Donna adopted an intrepid attitude toward life. She traveled and lived in many places in the world from Yokota, Japan; Cheyenne, WY; Cape Cod, MA, Orlando, FL, Atlanta, GA; Hampton, VA and finally landed in Winchester. She was most proud of obtaining her nursing degree, followed by work in a number of Seventh Day Adventists’ hospitals. One of many singers in the family, Donna was the champion yodeler. She inherited much of her free spirit from her father, whom she fondly recalled was out making moonshine the day she was born.
Family and friends will gather at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, WV, to celebrate her life. Rev. Matt Holbert will officiate, with burial at Maple Grove Cemetery.
