The name "P. S. Bartlett" might possibly be one of the most popular names in American watchmaking history. Patten Sergeant Bartlett worked for the American Watch Co. in Waltham, Massachusetts, before the company became the well-known "Waltham" brand it is. He was a foreman in the plate and screw department, prior to his departure from Waltham to work for the largest competitor, Elgin. You will find the P. S. Bartlett inscribed into a great many models of Waltham watches (at least 19) which covers a huge number of production runs. While many are very common, in most models there is at least one run bearing his name which is just a little different than the others, making them very unique.
