Mrs. Joseph Davis Dies In California
Mrs. Joseph (Loretto Jane) Davis, 78, of Long Beach, Calif.,formerly of Elgin, died Tuesday evening at a Long Beach hospital following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:15 from Wait, Ross, Allanson Funeral Chapel to St. Mary Church, Elgin, for requiem mass at 10:30.
Friends may call at the chapel Friday evening, where Rosary will be recited at 9 p.m.
Mrs. Davis, daughter of the late John and Mary Clennen Moor, was born Jan. 8, 1887, in Gilberts and had lived on farms in the Dundee-Elgin area until moving to California in 1944.
She had been a teacher at the Dundee Country School and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Anthony Church, Long Beach.
Survivors include the widower, with whom she celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1963; a son, John of Richmond, Ill.; three daughters, Miss Jean Davis, Long Beach, Mrs. Mary Culverson, Elgin, and Mrs. Milton (Shirley) Schliebe, Long Beach; two sisters, Mrs. William (Margaret) Tobin of Gilberts and Mrs. Mildred Duggan of Santa Cruz, Calif., 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank J., Arnold and Walter; and three sisters, Mrs. David J. Welih, Mrs. Joseph Kupitz, and Mrs. Charles Savage.
