Gladys Faye Gasaway, 91, of Cottage Hills, died 7:03 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2006, at Bethalto Care Center.
Services will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2006, at Paynic Home for Funerals in East Alton with the Rev. Bob Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Webber Campground Cemetery, Galatia. Visitation is 4 p.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2006, at Watson Funeral Home, Eldorado.
She was born May 22, 1915, in Eldorado to the late Norval and Rachel (Wilson) Burnette. On Oct. 23, 1935, she married Eugene E. Gasaway in Johnston City, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1983.
She was a member of several senior citizens groups. She was a clerk at Ben Franklin in Wilshire Village, East Alton, and retired after 25 years.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Jane Gasaway of Cape Coral, Fla.; two grandchildren, Jeff (Tina) Gasaway and Jon (Marcy) Gasaway; two great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Tim) Haynes and Jimmy Gasaway; a nephew, Robert Fraser of Antioch; a niece, Ann Lorentzen of California; three great-nieces; and a sister-in-law, Ann Gasaway of Eldorado.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Burnett, Helen Bramlet and Madolyn Fraser.
The family suggests memorials may be given to Main Street Methodist Church in Alton or First Baptist Church of Wood River.
