Michael Nolan Reid, 60, Charlotte, departed this life on May 21, 2014 at his residence. He was born on April 24, 1954 in Newport, Arkansas to Henry Davis Reid, Jr. and Etta Lee Madden Reid. Mike, his older brother, Steve, and twin brother, Mitch, grew up in Beedeville, Arkansas surrounded by their large, strong, and faithful Madden and Reid family. He was raised in the Beedeville Church of Christ. Mike graduated from Newport High School in 1972. Following graduation, he attended A.S.U., and graduated in 1977 with a Master's Degree in Business.
Mike married Miss Sheila Kay McAllister in 1972. Throughout their 42 years together they have lived in Jonesboro, Arkansas; Chicago, Illinois; Green Bay, Wisconsin; and finally in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mike began his career in Jonesboro working for F.M.C. and continued with them until he joined Tesa Tape Company in Charlotte as C.F.O.
Mike was a big man with a big personality. He never met a stranger, enjoyed a good argument and was never willing to give up the fight. Aptly referred to by many as "a man's man."
Mike was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Survivors include his wife Sheila of 42 years; son, Chris and his wife Crystal; grandchildren Nolan Michael and Lauren Grace; brothers Steve and Mitch and many numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends worldwide. He will be laid to rest by his daughter Elizabeth Anne who preceded him in death.
The Reid family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, NC 28104 where a Celebration of Life will be officiated by the Reverend Dicky McAllister. Burial will follow immediately at Forest Lawn East Cemetery.
