Mona was murdered by her husband, Frank Bruner, leaving four children to be cared for by family (the children lost two parents that day). Frank was sentenced to life in prison for her murder, and later had his sentence shortened to 29 years, and was paroled. Frank's girlfriend was implicated in the murder - she was tried and convicted, but walked free on the subsequent appeal of her conviction.
