Sam Anderson, age 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 18, 2014. He was born on Oct. 23, 1928, in Denver, Colo., to Arvid and Cordelia Anderson. Sam served his country in the United States Navy for 34 years and retired as a captain. He was a member of Community of Christ Church where he served as an Elder (minister), Sertoma Int., (Past International President), Crestview YMCA President, Okaloosa County Fire Department commissioner, Guardian Ad-Litem, reading-mentor for at risk children, Attorney (Littleton, Co), rancher (Albin, Wyo.), enjoyed snow skiing, and was recognized by Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia for 50 year membership with the Wyoming State Bar.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Arvid and Cordelia Anderson; and sister, Bunny Spillman.
Sam is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Anderson; sons, John Anderson and wife Stephanie and Anthony Miller; daughters, Angela Curtis and husband Rick, Suzanne Bremer and husband Ed; sister, Jean Bell; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2014, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Community of Christ Church, with the service starting at 11 a.m., and burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family would like for donations to be made to Panhandle Animal Lovers, Inc., c/o Hanne Berg.
