Mabel Baumann, 87, passed away Fridday, Dec. 8, 1989, in Mercy Hospital, Janesville. She was born March 27, 1902 to Rudolph and Oline (Torgerson) Bekkum in Timber Coulee, Wis. She married Joseph Baumann on June 30, 1934, in St. Boniface Church, Chicago. They farmed in the Coon Valley area for 34 years in the town of Hamburg.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph of Janesville; a daughter, Mrs. William (Deanna) Riley of Edgerton; four grandchildren, Mrs. Earl (Lee Ann) Herring of Janesville, Kathy Riley of Milton, William J. Riley and Kelly Riley, both of Edgerton; two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Holly Herring of Janesville; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Steenberg of Westby and Mrs. Clarence (Thelma) Dahlen of Coon Valley; two brothers, Morgan Bekkum of Chicago and Theodore Bekkum of Dubuque, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ruby, and two brothers, Otis and Milnor.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Coon Valley Lutheran Church, the Rev. William Mueller officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church Monday from 9 a.m. until time of services. Seland Funeral Home, Coon Valley, is in charge of arrangements.
