Catherine Ann (Hardyman) McDaniel was born in 1833 and died May 21, 1909.

Her Father was Lewis or Louis Tyler Hardyman born 1808 Charles City Virginia, buried in Big Creek Cemetery Jefferson County, AL.

Her mother is buried near her in Old Blue Creek, Margaret B. Finland Hardyman.

Lewis/Louis Tyler Hardymans grandmother was Racheal Tyler dau. of John Tyler father of John Tyler Sr & John Tyler Jr both governors of Va. & 10th President of The United States.

She was a domestic laborer (maid, cook, servant, etc.), could not read or write, and moved frequently.

In every census during her adult life, Catherine was the head of household. More children appear over time, but she remains head of household. Her husband may have been a surveyor or had a job that required travel.

**Some of the McDaniel relatives have proposed that he may have had a second wife and family, a few miles away. Time will tell.

Catherine McDaniel's dates are 1833 to 1892. She is buried at Old Blue Creek Cemetery in Jefferson County, Alabama.

Her husband, William Joseph McDaniel, is still lost to us.

**Note from another McDaniel, sent 2-17-2011.

The William Joseph McDaniel/McDanal/McDonald is my GGGrand father.
My Y-DNA with Familytree.com connects me with Bryan McDonald born 1645 Ireland died 1707 New Castle County, Delaware. I just do not know just where in this family tree W.J. connects. I think his father or grand father was named John, because his oldest son was named John Thomas born 1856 died 1929 buried Bucksville Cemetery.

By the way in 1885 Catherine McDaniel registered a deed for 80 acreas of land in her name and on the same day another 40 acreas.
Where did this land come from? Or where did she get the money to purchase this land? In the 1880 census report, it lists her as widowed or divorced.

If you have any further linking information I will be glad to post so this family can continue to complete their family tree.

Catherine had another daughter Susan Elizabeth McDaniel Lawson born Aug 1851 and another son William Edward McDaniel born 1864 died 1926 buried in Adger Cemetery on North Johns Road.

She also had a daughter named Sarah McDaniel 1871 and a son Clem born 1875.
