Upon graduation she left for Phoenix Arizona with her best friend Harriet in tow. She was working for an interior design company when she was introduced to 1st Lt. David Duart USAF who was earning his wings as a fighter pilot stationed at Luke AFB. They married August 4, 1956 and thus began an adventure lasting 47 years until Dave died in 2003.
They lived all over the world and enjoyed making lifetime friendships everywhere they were stationed. They valued these friendships and kept in touch with most people until only recently. Mom volunteered many hours in AFB Thrift shops and hospital gift shops wherever she happened to live. She took a CNA course while living in Carlisle PA, and worked briefly for a family. The position that made her the proudest was her involvement as the Indiana State Coordinator of the National League of Families of POW and MIA's. This shy woman certainly did not consider herself a public speaker, yet she confidently spoke at Universities, colleges, and rallies as well as at The Paris Peace Talks where she along with numerous other wives, mothers, and sisters represented the POW's and MIA's of the Vietnam War. She worked tirelessly on the behalf of not only David but of all of the men who proudly served this country in the most heinous of circumstances.
We consider mom as much a patriot of this country as we do dad. She supported our father in every way possible during his 27-year career in the Air Force. She was very proud of two of her grandsons and her son-in-law who joined the military.
She was fun, she was kind, and always had a smile on her face. She leaves behind her children Pam Rosen (Joel), Brian Duart, and Susan Duart Eagan (Pat). Her beloved grandchildren are Zach, Josh, and Elise Rosen, and Brodie and Shain Eagan. Her sisters were her best friends and they include Rosalie Roadruck (Daniel), Pauline Synesaul (Charlie), Patsy Knights (Alan), Sharon Finnerty, (Richard), Janice Wright (Robert), and Jeanne Duart (Thomas). She also leaves behind her two brothers, Robert Edwards (Charline), and Ronnie Edwards (Linda), plus numerous nephews and nieces all of whom she loved dearly and was immensely proud of.
