Lloyd Elias Ackerman. Lloyd Elias Ackerman, son of Randolph Ackerman and Susan Frankforter, was born in Garfield
Township October 21, 1884. Lloyd was a life long resident of
Clark County. He died March 17, 1964 at his home in Clark. He married Laura Bailey September 30, 1910 in Clark. Laura was the daughter of Charles Bailey and Ruth Drennan. Laura
was born February 12, 1892 in Champaign County, Illinois, and died January 17, 1975 in Clark, South Dakota. The marriage produced five children; Ralph, Wanda, Mabel, Mavis and Alice.

Lloyd and Laura owned a farm in Garfield Township. The farm was about 1.5 miles north of Clark, South Dakota. Lloyd
also homesteaded in Hyde County (Hayes, South Dakota) west of the Missouri River. He completed the homestead requirements and gained ownership of the property (a quarter section). He returned to Clark and never did live on the Hayes homestead again. The homestead was rented to a local rancher and was sold after Lloyd's death.
