Zelma Bedell, 90, of Amarillo died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, in Lake Tanglewood.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Lake Tanglewood Community Church with Dr. Roger Hubbard of the church officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street.

Mrs. Bedell was born June 3, 1914, in Harper, Kan., to Charlie and Flora Eatinger. She married Lister Bedell on Dec. 24, 1938, in Albuquerque, N.M. She moved to Amarillo in 1946 from Plainview and moved to Lake Tanglewood in 1967. Mrs. Bedell was a charter member of Lake Tanglewood Community Church. She also helped organized the Lake Tanglewood library, where she was a volunteer worker there until her death. She was a homemaker and a loving mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband on April 4, 1987; and two brothers, Earl and Wilbur Eatinger.

Survivors include two daughters, June Bedell of Amarillo and Mary Irene Newkirk and husband, C.W., of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; three sons, Russell Bedell and wife, Diane, of Amarillo, Charles Bedell and wife, Wanda, of Broaddus and Allen Bedell and wife, Jan, of Plano; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Lake Tanglewood Community Church or a favorite charity.

The body will not be available for viewing.
