Elsie Grace Mehas, 83, died Dec. 22, 2000, at Desert Valley Hospital in Victorville. A California native, she lived in Ontario for most of her life, from 1939 to 1960, and Victorville for nine months. She was self-employed in retail sales for 20 years and was a member of the Methodist Church of Ontario, the Assistance League in Ontario and the Women's Club. Her hobbies were her grandchildren, and she enjoyed needlepoint, tapestry and crafts. She is survived by her best friend and husband of 64 years, Bill of Victorville; sons Michael of Ventura, Phillip of Richmond and Richard of Alta Loma; daughter Christina Ollila of Apple Valley; brother Herb Bostrom of Ventura; sisters Evelyn Vail of Granada Hills and Eileen Nuzman of Bellfare, Wash.; grandchildren Michael Mehas of Ventura, Dana Johnson of Victorville, Danise Jimenez of Victorville, Daniel Ollila of Victorville, Misty Romero of Ventura, Carrie Ann Campagne of Alta Loma and Ryan Mehas of La Verne; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at High Desert Church in Victorville. Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the same location with the Rev. Dan Barbour officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Apple Valley. Sunset Hills Mortuary is handling arrangements.
