Robert Shoji Sakai, 82, of Honolulu, a retired city Department of Housing and Community Development senior construction inspector and an Army veteran, died in the Queen's Medical Center. He was born in Yamaguchi, Japan.

He is survived by wife Elsie K.; son Patrick K.; daughters Lorna Loui, Penny Nakamura and Audrey Higa; stepsons Michael, Jon and Alden Iha; stepdaughter Michelle Iha; brothers Howard, James, Clarence and Wilfred Shigeta; sister Barbara Sato; five grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.

Visitation: 9 a.m. Saturday at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Services: 10 a.m. Casual attire. No flowers.
