Lanet Weaver passed away May 18, 2014, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born August 2, 1957, to Jeannine and Arthur Ritter and was also raised by Rawleigh Anderson, whom she loved as "Dad."
Lanet grew up in Pocatello, Idaho, and Tooele, Utah, before settling in the Salt Lake Valley. She spent her life loving people. She had two children, Heather Lanet Bankhead and Myles Frederick Wilbur; doted on a beloved granddaughter, Hallie Marie Whiting; and had marriages to Kay Bankhead, Fred Wilbur, Jeff O'Brien, and Jerry Weaver. She had a tender heart for people, animals, and nature. She loved making things beautiful and going on adventures. She is remembered for her quick wit and hearty laugh. Her sister affectionately nicknamed her "Net." This name stuck, and she later became "Aunt Net" and "Grandma Net."
Lanet is preceded in death by her mother, Jeannine Anderson; father, Arthur Ritter, and brothers Jubal Ritter and Dean Anderson. She is survived by her husband, Jerry; her two children; daughter-in-law, Ashley Whiting; granddaughter; step-children Joey Howard, Brent Weaver, and their children; dad Rawleigh, siblings Linda Wickle, Debby (Steve) Szymanski, Leslie (Julie) Anderson, Justin Ritter, Clayton (Effie) Anderson, Jason (Brande) Ritter, and Kenneth (Veronica) Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
Lanet's death from liver disease at a young age is tragic. The best love we can give those who struggle with addiction comes without judgment. The trials we face will loom as large as mountains-climb them. Never give up on anyone, especially not yourself. The worth of a soul is great in the sight of God.
Memorial services will be Saturday, May 31, 3:00, at the Mormon Pioneer Memorial at 140 First Avenue, Salt Lake City. Parking is available at the chapel on the corner of A Street and Second Avenue. Please bring blankets or chairs.
