Marion Keith Wire, 85, of Sheridan, died Monday, May 26, 2014 at his home.

He was born March 26, 1929 in Boone County, the son of the late Clifford M. And Erma Marie (Battershell) Wire. On May 19, 1951, Marion married Leola June (Gray) Wire. She preceded him in death Sept. 27, 2001.

Marion attended Sheridan High School and was a member of the Christian Liberty Church in Boone County. Marion was a lifetime farmer. In addition to his love of the land, he loved his horses. He raced Thoroughbreds for many years. He was an avid NASCAR and Indy Car racing fan. Marion joined the Indiana National Guard in 1951 and was discharged in 1959 at the rank of SP3.

He is survived by two sons: Bryan Keith (Joyce) Wire of Colfax and Scott Christopher (Chelle) Wire of Noblesville; two daughters: Belinda H. Roark of Lebanon and Pamela J. (Gene) Ferguson of Sheridan; two grandchildren: Alexis Roark of Lebanon and Jennifer Johnson of Zionsville; and four great-grandchildren: Jacob Johnson, Lynnzie Johnson, Chase Bundren and Isabella Bundren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at the Kercheval Funeral Home in Sheridan, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Pastor Dan Markins will officiate.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Frankfort.
