In 1847, she went in the wagon train led by her father to Oregon, arriving at F. Vancouver Nov. 15, 1847. She was 18 during the trip, two months older than fellow emigrant Sarah Ann Carey, who married William McKune, brother of Robert McKune. Robert McKune married Sarah Ann Buell on Mar. 16, 1854, so there were two Sarah Ann McKunes of the same age in the same community. Sarah and Robert McKUne had children: Lydia S., Alice Ophelia, Viola Jane, Walter Douglas, Elias Willard, Minnie E. and Emmaline Elvira.
