Bernard C. "Nard" Clark, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 7, 1912, along with his twin brother, Berton, in Franklin. He was the son of Harry and Nellie (Butler) Clark.

Nard attended Franklin schools and was a member of the Franklin High School basketball team. Nard was a retired railroad foreman for Maine Central Railroad, where he worked for over 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. Nard was a charter member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and served as a deacon for at least 50 years.

Nard is survived by three sons, Ray and his wife, Nancy, of Nokomis, Fla., John and his wife, Tricia, of Franklin, and Jerry and his wife, Sue, of Hanover; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Beryl (Bragdon) Clark, as well as three brothers and a sister.

A celebration of Nard's life was held Jan. 15, 2002, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, corner of Park and School streets in Ellsworth, with the Rev. Barry Blackstone officiating. Private interment was at Bayview Cemetery, Franklin. Gifts in memory of Nard may be given toward Tricia Clark, One by One Ministries, c/o Schoodic Mountain Community Church, 8 Two Pine Lane, Franklin, ME 04634.
