Danyala and her family moved to Lakeland in 1989. Danyala was a graduate of George Jenkins High School. She attended Highland Park Church of the Nazarene. Danyala's life partner, Miranda Mims and her brother, David Smith, Jr., are also deceased. She is survived by her son, Bertie White; daughters, Delysia White and Channell Walters; legal guardians, Tom and Tammy Wilson; mother, Debra Pfaff; father, David Smith, Sr.; sisters, Amanda Justin Hall and Robin Deshon Traver; brothers, Steven Tasha Wilson and Roger Butterbaugh; and 14 beloved nieces and nephews. Danyala and Miranda's mutual friend, Ni'Kosi Williams was also murdered that day.
