Duane K. Annable, 86, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 9:00 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 in his home, following a brief illness.
He was born on June 13, 1927 to the late Benjamin H. and Gladys M. (Brown) Annable in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with his parents; he was also preceded in death by his two sons, Jeffery and Daniel Annable; and a brother, Benjamin Annable.
Duane graduated from Mishawaka High School. He retired in 1992 from Koontz - Wagner Electric Company in South Bend, IN, where he worked as a Journeyman Electrician for 46 years.
Duane is survived by a daughter, Debra M. (Annable) Smith of Elkhart, IN; a son, David W. (Sheila) Annable of South Bend, IN; three grandchildren, Matthew (Gretchen) McCavitt of Middlebury, IN; Patrick (Nicole) McCavitt of Norfolk, VA; Terri (Adam) Cira of Atlanta, GA; and 11 great-grandchildren, Ashley Hollenbach; Joshua and Anna McCavitt; Dylan, Ariana, Isabelle, Luke and Zach McCavitt; Whitney Smeed; Nate and Nicole Sperlunto
Mr. Annable was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher; and was a member of IBEW. He also was a former member of the Eagles Lodge. Duane enjoyed building model airplanes, and also took great pride in building his own home. Duane was a Navy Veteran of both World War II and the Korean War.
Visitation will be from 10 -11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, with Rev. Tom Thews officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN.
Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1001 W. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, IN 46616; or Hospice Foundation, Supporting Center for Hospice Care, South Bend-Elkhart-Plymouth, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545-5234.
